Wool scarf Koski, different colors. Myssyfarm
A large, flexible wool scarf is the savior of winter.
The scarves are hand-knitted by table-top grandmothers and each is signed by their creator. The material is organic sheep's wool and all work steps are done in Finland. So real local production!
The wool is hand-dyed at Myssyfarm’s production facilities. Hand dyeing gives the wool a vibrant and deep color tone. The processing of wool preserves its natural fat, lanolin, which makes wool water and dirt repellent.
Material: 100% Finnish sheep organic wool.
Why is this a more ecological and ethical option?
Wool is one of the few textile fibers that we in Finland can produce locally. By utilizing fine Finnish wool, handicraft products made entirely of local production and organic quality can be produced.
At present, Finnish wool is an underused material, of which about 70% is disposed of as waste. The hat farm does long-term work to raise Finnish wool back to its value and has raised to a new level of the price per kilogram of wool.
The hat farm collaborates with numerous organic farms and provides additional income and meaningful work for 80 retired hat product knitters.
The Finnish sheep and the merino sheep are the only two breeds of sheep in the world whose wool fibers turn inwards. Due to the structure, the wool is particularly soft.
